India – Toll Free Helpline For The Visually Impaired Launched
Here’s something for the blind in India. Visually Impaired can now get a call assistance. Yes, a toll free helpline number for assistance launched today named Eyeway Helpdesk. After connecting the call, a trained counsellor will share information, guide and connect the caller with relevant professional solutions.
It is an initiative of Score Foundation with support from the central government, Essel Foundation, Tech Mahindra Foundation and Hans Foundation. The best part of the announcement is that the executives offering assistance will address the queries in all local languages.
Under this National Helpdesk Toll free number, anyone across India can call for information to get their queries addressed and in their regional languages. The queries stated can be,
- regarding living life with blindness,
- counselling
- personal or legal matters,
- government schemes and programs,
- employment or education,
- making an accessible environment,etc.
Lov Verma, secretary in the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities launched the Toll Free helpline number: 1800-300-20469.
Eyeway is a single stop knowledge resource centre on life with blindness. It began as a flagship project of Score Foundation and has been empowering blind by sharing information and advocating for change where required.
